Grateful


Hey everybody! Todays song is called Grateful. The inspiration for it came from a situation that happened today. So to make this clear i have to say this first:

I live in beautiful Tanzania on the east coast of Africa in a big town called Dar es Salaam that has all the things that a big city has, tall sky scrapers, busy roads with a lot of cars and many different people some live in small houses, big houses and mansions. some has no water, some has water from the government, some has water tanks, some have no electricity, some have electricity bought form electricity companies and some have generators that they turn on when the power goes away.

So my house comes under the category water from the government and bought electricity with no generator. So sometimes maybe once a month the government is working with some leakage of water or the electricity line needs to be fixed. At those times we have to go to a tap outside the house to collect water or deal with no electricity for hours.

Like today.

For some reason i don't know the electricity was cut of for the whole day until 9 pm at night! When the electricity was gone i was so frustrated because i was thinking of my fridge with all my food getting spoiled and not being able to see tv. But after letting myself being frustrated i started to do things that didn't need power so i was reading books and writing with a PEN instead. While i was writing I thought of how much i hunger for things thats not there. Like the hunger that i felt today it was like it was turning my stomach, but the funny thing is when it came back its like the hunger was satisfied I celebrated it for a minute, clapping my hands and saying "yeah the electricity is back!", but i know that tomorrow when the electricity is there i will start to take it for granted again. Have you ever experienced that?

I´m doing some steps to be more grateful and that is something I´v learned from Oprah Winfrey it is to write a gratitude journal. I write 5 things every day that I´m grateful for. You might be in a situation where you don't feel like you have anything to be grateful for but you can at least be grateful for the air you breath, the water you drank, the eyes you see with and feet that held you up the whole day. The amazing thing with this is that when you start being grateful for what you have you´ll become more aware of things to be grateful for and even bring situations into your life to be grateful for:
